[01] Program of social protection will be presented by the government
Romanian finance minister Mircea Ciumara said in Bucharest on Monday that
the governmet will present a program of social protection by the end of
this week, aimed at fighting the new wave of price rises. Negotiations with
the representatives of trade unions and the employers' unions will also
start. The leaders of the Christian Democratic National Peasant Party have
called for transparency in the executive's measures of economic recovery
saying that the doubling of the gas price, that led to rises in all prices,
is the resut of the policy of the former rulers, over the past seven years.
In another move, the National Confederation of Free Trade Unions "Fratia"
showed concern over the alarming rises in prices, and said that the new
government is mistaken in ingnoring the opinion of the trade unions in this
respect. The leader of the trade union confederation thinks that the
resolution of the November National Conference that granted the new
government a period of grace until February must be revised.RRI-RADOR,
