[01] U.S. PRAISES TURKEY'S EU REFORMS
WASHINGTON D.C. - The U.S. said on Monday that the adoption of the EU
adjustment laws by the Turkish parliament is a great step for Turkey's
target of joining the EU and it stressed its strong support to Turkey's
EU membership.

ANKARA - Danish Charge D'Affaires to Ankara Jesper Moller Sorenson said
on Monday that the adoption of the EU adjustment bill was a very
positive decision taken in the correct direction.
[03] U.S STATE DEPARTMENT SPOKESMAN REEKER SAYS U.S. HAS REGULAR AND
CLOSE DIALOGUE WITH TURKEY ABOUT IRAQI ISSUE
WASHINGTON D.C. - U.S. said on Monday that Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein
constitutes a threat not only to his own people, but also for
neighbours of Iraq, adding that the U.S. has regular and close dialogue
with Turkey about Iraqi issue.
[04] AZERBAIJANI PRESIDENT ALIYEV SAYS ISSUE OF FINANCING BTC HAS BEEN
SORTED OUT
BAKU - Azerbaijani President Haydar Aliyev said on Monday that the
issue of financing Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) project, which will
transport Azeri oil to Turkey via Gorgia has been sorted out, adding
that this is a great development.

ANKARA - Deputy Prime Minister Mesut Yilmaz called EU Parliament
Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Elmar Brok regarding Brok's
statement on the EU adjustment bill the Turkish Parliament passed on
Aug. 3, diplomatic sources said on Monday.

ANKARA - Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Acting Chairman Ismail Kose
criticized government partners who supported passing the EU bill
abolishing death penalty for terrorist crimes and claimed that their

ANKARA - ANKARA (A.A) - The bill which brings important new
arrangements in adjustment process to the European Union (EU) was sent
to Cankaya Palace on Monday to be presented to the approval of

ANKARA - The Central Bank said on Monday that the U.S. dollar gained 27
percent in value against Turkish lira (TL) at the end of July when
compared to the end of April.
