ANKARA - The Parliamentary General Assembly recessed until October 1,
2002 after concluding the 21st Term 4th Legislative Year late on
Thursday. The parliament will recess for three months if the general
assembly is not called for an extraordinary session.

DIYARBAKIR - State Minister Nejat Arseven Thursday said that making
people wait in long lines and treating them badly at government offices
was a violation of human rights.

ANKARA - Prime Minister Bulent Ecevit who also acts as the leader of
the Democratic Left Party (DSP) said on Thursday, ''I did not say
anything about possibility of holding early elections during the group
meeting of the DSP. However, my words were misunderstood. It is out of
question to hold elections before April of 2004.''

LEFKOSA - Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Foreign and
Defense Minister Tahsin Ertugruloglu called for support to the TRNC's
cause and also asked for help for the recognition of the TRNC state
internationally at the 29th Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC)
Foreign Ministers meeting in the Sudanese capital of Khartoum on
Thursday.
