The Researcher will receive compensation based on the level of his/her experience. The duration of the appointment will be 2½ years starting in the beginning of 2008. Candidates should plan to move to Patras at the beginning of their appointment. If interested, the Researcher will be given the opportunity to apply for the Ph.D. program of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, subject to admission requirements. Applicants should be interested in conducting research in one or both of the following areas. Area Á • PHY (Physical) Layer Algorithms • MAC Layer Protocols and Cross Layer Algorithms For Area Á experience on baseband system design and signal processing for communications, preferably with emphasis on wireless MIMO systems is strongly desired. Moreover, candidates should have working knowledge of one or more of the following programming languages: Matlab, Simulink, C or C++. Familiarity with optimization and digital design is a plus. Area  • IP Mobility Management and Vertical Handoff in Heterogeneous Wireless Networks • Cross Layer Algorithms for Delay Tolerant Applications in Wireless Networks Required expertise for Area B includes IP networking, Wireless Networks, Network Programming, experience with Open Source Software. Candidates holding a B.S. and/or a M.S. and/or a Ph.D (or equivalent degrees) in Electrical/Computer Engineering and related fields will be considered.
