RESEARCH ASSOCIATE POSITION

The Department of Geography, University of the Aegean in Mytilene Greece, is seeking to fill a Research Associate position in the area of Hazards Management. This individual must be able to meet managerial support needs of a EU funded research project entitled "AUTO-HAZARD PRO: Automated Fire and Flood Hazard Protection System."

The suitable individual will be expected to cooperatively work on research project management and administration, progress reports and manuscript writing, and financial cost statements submission. S/he must also have a documented or potential ability to develop competitive grant proposals and co-author technical papers. The position is initially for one (1) year, renewable up to two (2) years. Anticipated starting date is August-September 2002 but it is negotiable. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Desirable qualifications include: (1) graduate studies in Geosciences and/or Socio-Economics, (2) thorough knowledge of Windows-based software packages, and (3) ability to communicate fluently in both oral and written English.
