HELLENIC STUDIES CONFERENCE

The World Council of Hellenes Abroad (SAE) is organizing a Conference entitled "Hellenic Studies in the Antipodes at the dawn of the 21st Century" to be held at Sydney University on 5-7 November, 1999.

The aim of the Conference is to provide a forum for Greek-Australian educators and students to discuss issues, create strategies for the future and make a positive contribution towards all aspects of Hellenic Studies.

SAE is calling for both speakers and delegates to participate in this important educational event

SPEAKERS

All persons who wish to be considered for inclusion as a speaker at the Conference are invited to submit a paper (in English or Greek) which covers an issue that is relevant to the overall conference theme.

* Papers should be sent to 1009 Botany Road, Mascot NSW 2020 by no later than Friday 17 September, 1999. Please be sure to include your name and contact details. * Papers should be no longer than 15 minutes in duration * Papers will be considered by a Committee and the required number of speakers will be selected * Speakers selected from interstate will be paid their airfares and accommodation.

DELEGATES

All persons involved in any area of education or Hellenic studies are invited to take part as delegates.

Your registration fee of $50 (or $30 for students) includes

* A complimentary invitation to the cocktail reception to launch the Conference on the evening of Friday 5 November, 1999 * Participation in all Conference presentations and workshops * Complimentary luncheons on 6 & 7 November, 1999 * Complimentary tea/coffee/biscuits throughout Conference proceedings * Conference hand-outs

An optional dinner is scheduled for the evening of Saturday 6 November, 1999 at a special Conference cost of $25 per person.

Accommodation is available at a special conference rate.

Depending on final numbers SAE may be able to make a contribution towards the cost of accommodation and airfares for all inter-state delegates.
