The 8th Mediterranean Meeting on Nuclear Medicine and Radiopharmaceuticals devoted to "Radionuclides for Oncology" will be held in Rome and Istanbul.

This is the eighth of a series of annual seminar-like Meetings, organized by committed university scientists working in this field, independently of the numerous national societies. Original research work and reviews focusing on the recent in vitro and in vivo new technologies, radiopharmaceuticals and radiobiomarkers used for the diagnosis and treatment of malignant lesions will be presented.

Special emphasis will be given to:

  1. correlative evaluation of the efficacy of the radiotracers in relation to other diagnostic and therapeutic modalities,
  2. the earliest possible detection of primary and secondary sites and most accurate possible staging,
  3. the monitoring of the efficacy of chemo-, radio- and radionuclidic therapy and
  4. the assessment and management of unfortunate treatment due to multidrug resistance.

The Meeting is scheduled as follows: May 19 (arrival day) to 20 in Rome, and May 21 to 24 in Istanbul, where participants will be transferred by plane, Thursday 21.

The First Seminar on Interventional Nuclear Medicine in Clinical Praxis will be held in Berlin the 29th of August 1998, with the exclusive title: "Radionuclides for Inflammation/Infection".

This is the first of a series of annual seminars, organized by committed university scientists working in this field, independently of the numerous national societies. Original research work and reviews focusing on the recent new technologies and radiopharmaceuticals used for the diagnosis of infection / inflammation will be presented. Special emphasis is encouraged to be given to the correlative evaluation of the efficacy of the radioisotopic imaging in relation to other diagnostic modalities.

Scientific Program:

The Seminar will be held in Berlin the 29th of August in "Adlon Kempinski Hotel de Luxe", on fashionable "Allee unter den Linden". Scientific Sessions will start at 9.00 p.m. and close in the evening after an official dinner. The Scientific Program will comprise plenary lectures given by invited world authorities and oral (8-10 min) presentations. Five minutes will be allowed for the discussion of each presentation and only slides measuring 5 x 5 cm will be accepted for projection. The number of active participants is restricted.

Both events on Nuclear Medicine are organized by Prof. George Limouris.
