Athens, 26/06/1999 (MPA) The issue of the dioxin contaminated foods is being examined by market inspection prosecutor Leonidas Lazarakos who started legal proceeding against 35 companies for violations of market regulations.

Medical officer of the prefecture in Athens, Yiannis Tsantiris testified yesterday before the market inspection prosecutor and stressed that the Greek products have no problem but samples have been taken for inspections as a precautionary measure.

Greece has rejected the protest made by Belgium to the Greek ambassador to Brussels concerning Athens' stance on the issue of the dioxin contamination, while the minister of development characterized this as incomprehensible.
