Draft-bill on Attica forests was approved by the Parliament on Tuesday.
Of the 271 deputies present, 243 voted in favour, 16 voted against and
16 stated present.
Deputies N. Nikolopoulos (ND) and Adonis Georgiadis (LAOS), who
notified in a letter their intention of vote, were not included in the
final count. PASOK and ND parties voted in favour, GCP and LAOS against
and SYRIZA present.
A debate on the draft-bill articles followed. Minister for Environment,
Energy and Climate Change, T. Birbilis stressed that several proposals
and observations were taken into consideration. She also said that a
new regulation will be tabled to Parliament providing for specific
problems in regions burned in Attica and complex building issues.
The government will announce in February the biggest ever nationwide
reforestation which will include regions in Attica.
