  • [01] Karamanlis Holds Meetings with Political Leaders

The Prime Minister will hold today successive meetings with political leaders in order to find concessive resolutions to tackle the financial crisis. At 11.00 he will meet with George Papandreou, at 12.30 with Aleka Papariga, at 14.00 with George Karatzaferis and at 17.00 with Alekos Alavanos. The premier further reiterated the need for agreement on "the basics and the self-evident", given that the crisis "is knocking on our door" and "no one can turn a deaf ear". The Prime Minister Costas Karamanlis on Wednesday briefed President of the Republic Karolos Papoulias on Sunday's extraordinary EU summit and the developments in the global financial crisis, as well as its impact on Greece.

PASOK commented that agreement can be reached when there is credibility and the Greek citizens as well as European partners in international markets do not trust the government.

"The Greek people must not be fooled by ND-PASOK conflict, as the two parties fully consent on basic issues", KKE supported.

"Unfortunately, the Prime Minister and the government lack the self-evident", Alekos Alavanos said from Heraklion, Crete.

"The whole political world must stand with responsibility against the financial problem", LAOS commented in its announcement.
