[01] India Had Been Warned of the Hits
The revelation that the USA had warned India before last week's hits in
Mumbai that militants had been planning a waterborne attack on the city
has caused shock and indignation. In fact, the warning was so specific,
listing the Taz Hotel among the possible targets. The attackers
accessed the city from its port and detonated the cabs that drove them
to their targets, without anyone taking any notice of what was going
on. In the meantime, India has demanded Pakistani authorities have
about 20 terror suspects arrested and extradited to India. Washington
has also exerted pressure on Pakistan to fully cooperate with
authorities in India, while Condoleezza Rice is expected in New Delhi
on Wednesday. In the meantime, a top-ranking police officer in Mumbai
said the attackers had been on a suicide mission and belonged to the
Pakistan-based militant group.
