The fire started at Agii Theodori, Lehaina and spread to Simiza causing damage to farm-houses but is not threat to inhabited area. Strong winds make firefighting efforts even more difficult. Three aircrafts, 2 helicopters, 20 fire angines and 55 firefighters are battling with flames. Still raging is the fire in Ariana Zarakou, Lakonia . Under control are the fire in Kato Souli, Marathonas that broke out at noon, the fire in Kammena Bourla near Greek Tourism Organization land, the fire in Pallini that broke out this morning, the fire in Aigina and the fire in Samothraki. Residents of the island of Samothraki had a nightmarish night when flames approached Alonia village and threatened the military camp in the region. Also fires in Partheni, Eraklio and Markopoulo, Attika have been contained. Since Thursday morning 44 fires broke out. Mr. Liapis rejected accusations by the main opposition party and stressed that the state interests in the contract between the Organization for the Promotion of Greek Culture Siemens are fully guaranteed. The Culture Minister launched an attack against the main opposition party blaming it for audacity while he referred that during its ruling PASOK used to sign contracts tying the budget for a decade.
