    A cloudy day is forecast with rain and storms in the west and south parts of the country and snow on high ground. Winds strong to gale force in the north eastern Aegean, gradually abating in the afternoon. Temperatures in Athens will range between 3C to 10C and in Thessaloniki between 1C to 6C.

    [02] Special measures to facilitate return of holiday makers

    Traffic police has taken special measures to facilitate holiday makers return to major cities as tomorrow is a working day.

    Snow tires are necessary in mountainous regions in northern Greece while extreme weather conditions are abating from the afternoon . A new deterioration of the weather is expected on Saturday.

    [03] Mobilisations in the occupied parts of Cyprus

    Mobilisations against the intransigent stand of Turkish Cypriot leader , Raulf Dektash continue in the occupied parts of Cyprus. Today youth and student organisations are staging a demonstration in the occupied part of Nicosia.

    Cyprus Foreign Minister, Yiannis Kassoulidis said that Dektash unacceptable statements give slight hope for a resolution of the Cyprus political problem .

    [04] French port authorities ban sailing of Greek ship

    French port authorities have banned the Greek flagged tanker, Crete Filoxenia of the Vardinogiannis group to sail at a distance less than 200 nautical miles from the French coast within the context of measures to avert ecological disaster.

    The ship owner company AVIN has described the measures as unjustified and beyond the rules of international law.
