  • [01] Cannes awarded 'Lobster' premieres in Athens on Oct 22

ANA/MPA---The film "Lobster" by Yorgos Lanthimos will make its official premiere in Athens on October 22.

The first English-language film by Lanthimos, starring Colin Farrell and Rachel Weisz, won the Jury Prize at the 68th Cannes Film Festival.

It is set in the future where single people are taken to The Hotel to find a matching mate in 45 days. If they fail, they are transformed into an animal and sent off into The Woods. In that setting, one man escapes into The Woods and falls in love with a woman, despite the rules of the Loners.

It is a Greek-Irish-British-Dutch-French production and it is written by Yorgos Lanthimos and his regular co-writer Efthimis Filippou.

ANA/MPA---Shipping and Island Policy Minister Thodoris Dritsas meets with the chief of the Greek Coast Guard Athanassios Athanassopoulos to discuss among others measures to face the increasing migration flows to the eastern Aegean islands.

The representatives of the Coast Guard will also ask for further assistance in services on a number of islands that receive large number of migrants.

"The problem took greater dimensions after the construction of a 12.5 klm fence along Evros river at the Greek-Turkish borders," Greek Coast Guard officials said to ANA-MPA.
