[01] Election talk doesn't help, State Minister Pappas tells Real News
ANA - MPA -- Talk of national elections doesn't help, but added that
it might come to this if some party lawmakers withdraw their confidence
towards the government, State Minister Nikos Pappas said in an interview
in Greek paper Real News published on Sunday.
"If some of our lawmakers decide to withdraw their confidence towards to
government, the rift that was created in the last votes in parliament
will be unavoidably turned into a void," he was quoted as telling
the paper. Pappas also said the "scenario of a ‘left interlude' was
proved politically powerless" and that the prime minister has repeatedly
stated that he will not participate in a special purpose government.
Asked about SYRIZA's internal disputes, Pappas said the party has bodies
and members which won't allow anyone to be a "party within a party",
adding that all issues will be dealt with at SYRIZA's congress. "However,
holding separate rallies, pursuing the formation of a front against the
government send a message of a separate course."
In a separate interview in Avghi newspaper, the State minister also
mentioned the legislation on mass media prepared by the government,
saying it will "end a deliberately prolonged anarchic environment in
private broadcasting while legally establishing the transition to the
digital age."
