[01] Military aircraft crash; pilot safe
A military aircraft A-7 Corsair crashed on Tuesday at 09.45 in a
non-residental area of Komotini, northeastern Greece.
The pilot used the ejector seat and abandoned the aircraft. He was taken
to Komotini general hospital where according to information he suffers
from minor injuries.
Defence Minister Dimitris Avramopoulos contacted with the pilot and
congratulated him for the immediate and right reaction.
The aircraft took part in a exercise along with another A-7 in the area. A
committee of experts will investigate the reasons of the accident. Initial
estimations attribute the accident to engine failure.
