[01] FinMin Hardouvelis meets ECB board member Coeure
ANA/MPA--The European Central Bank's (ECB) liquidity programme, a
broad-based asset-purchase programme, which is expected to begin in
September, dominated a meeting between Finance Minister Gikas Hardouvelis
and ECB executive member Benoit Coeure.
The programme aims at combatting very low inflation and boosting growth in
the eurozone, as the ECB expects that a significant part of the liquidity
will be channeled by banks to enterprises.
The two officials also discussed the issue of stress tests, the results
of which are expected to be released in October.
Coeure is currently meeting with Prime Minister Antonis Samaras and then
will have a luncheon with Bank of Greece (BOG) governor Yannis Stournaras.
