fraud case
The financial police on Monday announced that a total of 18 people are
involved in a social insurance fraud against IKA social insurance fund,
who are also facing felony charges for forgery, tax law violations and
fraud against the state, among others.
The defendants, 15 men and 3 women aged 22-67, are accused of operating
a fraudulent scheme from 2010 until 2013 facilitating five companies
active in the sectors of timber trade, sanitary ware, books, clothing
and cosmetics to avoid paying social insurance contributions for their
employees.
The key-role in the scam had a 54-year-old accountant.
The case file and the findings of the investigation have been forwarded
to a First Instance Court prosecutor in Athens.
