[01] Arrears to social security funds exceed 10 bln euros, Labour
ministry says
Arrears to the country's social security funds have reached 10.5 billion
euros, according to Labour ministry data.
Labour Minister Yiannis Vroutsis had said the current situation is a
result of a fragmented system that had many inequalities.
According to data by the Social Security Arrears Collection Center,
83 percent of the arrears date back to the years before 2009, while 66
percent of the debtors owe amounts up to 20,000 euros. The majority of
the arrears is owed to the country's largest social security fund IKA,
the farmers' social security fund OGA and that of the self-employed
professionals OAEE.
