[01] Greek swimmer wins bronze in international paralympics games,
Montreal
ANA-MPA -- Christos Tampaxis won the bronze medal for 50 m. backstroke,
class S1, at the opening of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC)
Swimming World Championships on Monday (Canada time), taking place east
of Montreal at the Jean Drapeau Aquatic Complex Park.
Tampaxis has participated in IPC championships since 1996 and so far
has won a total of three golds and two silvers. At the previous IPC
championships (London, 2012) he took second place, with a time of 1:20.76.
The games are taking place from August 12 to 18. More than 650 athletes
from over 60 countries are participating.
