ANA-MPA -- The Russian Railways are discussing the possibility of
participating in the privatisation of Greek assets, through a joint
venture of Greek and western European companies, the head of the Russian
state company Vladimir Yakunin told reporters.
"We are holding talks with Greek and western companies, we want to create
an alliance, a group", replied the head of the Russian Railways at a
press conference, in the framework of Saint Petersburg's International
Economic forum, when asked if it will participate in Greek privatisations
autonomously or in cooperation with other partners.
Yakunin clarified that the Russian Railways are planning to pay the
price of the buyout in the case of a successful conclusion, with money
that will be secured mainly from borrowing.
Yakunin, the head of the Russian Railways colossus for many years and
a man who is considered as belonging to President Putin's environment,
had stated last March that his company is interested in the privatisation
of TRAINOSE and ports in Greece.
