[01] 3 arrests for Thessaloniki incident against German consul
AMNA / Three men -- aged 39, 47 and 53 -- have been arrested for an
incident on Thursday against the German Consul in Thessaloniki, Wolfgang
Hoelscher -Obermaier, in which the local government employees' union
POE-OTA protestors heckled and threw coffee and water bottles against
him as he arrived at a conference centre for the 3rd Greek-German
meeting of Peripheries, Municipalities and Citizens.
According to police, two of the suspects are local government employees
and the third is a civil servant. The three were identified by police
through video footage at their disposal, and indictments are being
drawn up against them by police.
Meanwhile, colleagues and supporters of the trio gathered outside the
Thessaloniki Police headquarters at noon Friday in a show of support.amna
