[01] Trade balance deficit down in seven-month periodAMNA--Greek exports fell in July, as a result of declining consumer demand due to new austerity measures in the rest of the European countries, but the country's trade balance deficit nevertheless was further contained in July, resulting in the deficit falling by 21.7 percent in the first seven months of the year, according to figures released by the independent Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT) on Tuesday.ELSTAT, in a report, said that the total value of imports-arrivals, excluding oil products, in July 2012 amounted to 2554.5 million euros (3129.7 million dollars) in comparison with 2607.6 million euros (3708.3 million dollars) in July 2011, recording a drop, in euros, of 2.0%. The total value of exports-dispatches, excluding oil products, in July 2012 amounted to 1417.3 million euros (1747.0 million dollars) in comparison with 1436.3 million euros (2055.1 million dollars) in July 2011, recording a drop, in euros, of 1.3%. The deficit of the trade balance, excluding oil products, in July 2012 amounted to 1137.2 million euros (1382.7 million dollars) in comparison with 1171.3 million euros (1653.2 million dollars) in July 2011, recording a drop, in euros, of 2.9%. The total value of imports-arrivals, excluding oil products, for the 7-month period from January to July 2012 amounted to 17828.8 million euros (22881.5 million dollars) in comparison with 19467.6 million euros (27301.6 million dollars) for the corresponding period of the year 2011 recording a drop, in euros, of 8.4%. The total value of exports-dispatches, excluding oil products, for the 7-month period from January to July 2012 amounted to 9862.9 million euros (12727.4 million dollars) in comparison with 9292.0 million euros (13127.0 million dollars) for the corresponding period of the year 2011, recording an increase, in euros, of 6.1%. The deficit of the Trade Balance, excluding oil products, for the 7-month period from January to July 2012 amounted to 7965.9 million euros (10154.1 million dollars) in comparison with 10175.6 million euros (14174.6 million dollars) for the corresponding period of the year 2011, recording a drop, in euros, of 21.7%.
