    AMNA / The Greek public debt rose to 360.697 billion euros at the end of September, up from 353.693 billion euros three months earlier, at end June, according to data released by the finance ministry on Tuesday. www.amna.gr

    According to the data on the outstanding central government debt, bonds worth 35.1 billion euros and interest-bearing bonds worth 4.6 billion euros are due to mature in 2012, while bonds worth 37.6 billion euro are due to mature in 2013, bonds worth 60.2 billion euros are due to mature in 2014, and bonds worth 45.3 billion euros are due to mature in 2015.     [02] Obama congratulates Papademos, expresses steadfast support

    WASHINGTON (AMNA) -- US President Barack Obama telephoned new Greek prime minister Lucas Papademos on Monday to congratulate him on the assumption of the post, while he also expressed America's steadfast support for Greece in these difficult times.

    A White House press office release summarizing the call stated:

    "President Obama spoke with Greek Prime Minster Lucas Papademos today (Monday) to congratulate him on his appointment, to thank him for taking on such a significant responsibility at a critical moment, and to express U.S. support for Greece’s efforts to implement its commitments under its EU-IMF program. President Obama reiterated that the United States will stand steadfastly with Greece, a friend and ally, through these difficult times."
