Former Greek foreign minister Petros Molyviatis along with a noted
translator of Russian literature, Mitsos Alexandropoulos, and the
chairman of the Greek-Russian parliamentary friendship group, Simos
Kedikoglou, were named here this week as recipients of the Pushkin
medal, by order of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
According to a Russian presidential decree dated Dec. 24, 2007, and
announced by the Kremlin on Friday, the three Greek nationals along
with nine other foreign citizens were bestowed the honor for their
significant contribution towards the furthering and study of the
Russian language and to build ties between their respective nations and
Russia.
Molyviatis, a retired career diplomat, is currently the chairman of the
board of the Athens-based Konstantinos (Constantine) G. Karamanlis
