La soirée fournira aussi l'occasion d’entendre Gabriel Rios, l'un des anciens lauréats des prix en 2007.[02] Telecoms: Commission approves partial broadband deregulation in PortugalThe Commission today said it approved the Portuguese telecoms regulator's proposal to deregulate some parts of the wholesale broadband market, covering around 61% of all Portuguese broadband lines. The regulator ANACOM's (Autoridade Nacional de Comunicações) proposal is a reasonable move towards better targeted regulation, concentrating on regions where structural competition problems persist. The Commission also called for effective regulation in regions where competition problems persist. With the move towards faster and higher capacity next generation fibre networks underway in Portugal and across the EU, the Commission highlighted the importance of alternative operators having access to new fibre technologies.Rediffusion [03] Mergers: Commission clears Iberia's proposed acquisition of Vueling and Clickair, subject to conditionsThe European Commission has approved under the EU Merger Regulation the proposed acquisition of the two Spanish low-cost airlines Vueling and Clickair by the Spanish flag-carrier Iberia on condition that commitments to safeguard competition and passenger choice are implemented. The Commission's clearance is conditional upon the parties releasing slots in Barcelona and other European airports to address competition concerns on several Spanish and other European routes where the proposed concentration would have led to a restriction of competition. In the light of these commitments, which encourage competing airlines to enter or expand on those routes, the Commission has concluded that the proposed transaction would not significantly impede effective competition in the European Economic Area (EEA) or any substantial part of it. The Spanish competition authority submitted a request for the concentration to be referred to them for consideration but subsequently withdrew their request.[04] The Gas Coordination Group evaluates the current gas crisis and confirms measures to assist countries in needIn the afternoon session of the meeting of the Gas Coordination Group members, together with countries of the Energy Community in South-East Europe, discussed the impact of the current gas crisis, evaluating each country's' situation with a particular view to identify further measures how to assist countries in need, in the spirit of solidarity. The group will meet again the 19th January in Brussels, and the monitoring will continue day by day as long as normal supplies are not resumed.[05] Statement by European Commissioner for Development and Humanitarian Aid Louis Michel on temporary suspension of movements of UNRWA staff throughout the Gaza StripThe European Commission condemns in the strongest terms the attacks on UNRWA humanitarian convoys and personnel. These attacks have resulted in UNWRA being forced to temporarily halt its staff movements in the Gaza Strip. This decision by UNWRA primarily affects food distribution across Gaza. Other humanitarian partners are subject to similar and unacceptable incidents and as a consequence are forced to reduce or stop their operations. These activities are crucial in bringing essential assistance to the suffering population of Gaza.[06] Autre matériel diffusé• Memo on Member State general situation according the significance of impact• Memo on Measure discussed at the Gas Coordination Group • Memo on State aid: Overview of national rescue measures and guarantee schemes • Memo on Antitrust: Commission opens formal proceedings against Standard & Poor's concerning securities identification numbers A disposition au secrétariat de Jonathan Todd (BERL 03/315): Notification préalable d'une opération de concentration : Costa/MSC/MPCT Blackfriars/Vink Holding
