[01] Launching the European Day against the Death Penalty
(! embargo 16h00 !) The European Commission is proposing a draft Joint
Declaration to the European Parliament and the Council of Ministers, to be
adopted together with the Council of Europe, regarding the establishment of
a European Day against the Death Penalty, on 10 October of each year.
[02] Politique de cohésion pour 2007-2013 : la Commission entérine la
stratégie nationale et les priorités de la Slovénie
Mme Danuta Hübner, commissaire à la politique régionale, et M.
VladimÃr `pidla, commissaire à l'emploi et aux affaires sociales, ont
félicité les autorités slovènes d'être parvenues à un accord avec la
Commission européenne sur leur plan et leurs priorités en matière de
cohésion pour la période 2007-2013. Dans son cadre de référence
stratégique national (CRSN), la Slovénie décrit les modalités
d'investissement des fonds communautaires (€4,101 milliards) qui lui
seront alloués en sept ans pour améliorer la croissance et l'emploi dans
les régions slovènes. La procédure d'adoption est maintenant achevée,
la Commission ayant publié sa décision sur les différents
éléments du CRSN (priorités, allocations annuelles indicatives et liste
des programmes opérationnels).
[03] Commission clears acquisition of OSG by ABN AMRO
The European Commission has granted clearance under the EU Merger
Regulation to the acquisition of sole control of OyezStraker Group Holdings
Limited (OSG) of the UK by Pearl Mezzanine Limited (PML) of the UK,
belonging to the Dutch ABN AMRO Group. ABN AMRO provides financial
services. OSG distributes office products and provides certain business
services. The operation was examined under the simplified merger review
procedure.
[04] Commission clears joint venture between RWE Power and Carbon Austria
The European Commission has granted clearance under the EU Merger
Regulation to the acquisition of joint control of a newly created company,
NewCo of Austria, by Carbon Austria Projektentwicklungs GmbH (Carbon
Austria) and RWE Power AG of Germany. In addition, RWE Power also takes
joint control with Carbon Austria of Carbon Egypt Ltd. and Carbon CDM Korea
Ltd. RWE Power belongs to RWE AG of Germany, which is active in the areas
of energy, water, mining, commodities, mineral oil chemistry and waste
disposal. RWE Power is active in power production. Carbon Austria develops
and implements projects to reduce greenhouse gases. The joint venture will
develop and implement climate protection projects. The operation was
examined under the simplified merger review procedure.
[05] Commission clears acquisition of Böhler-Uddeholm by voestalpine
The European Commission has granted clearance under the EU Merger
Regulation to the acquisition of sole control of Böhler Uddeholm AG of
Austria by voestalpine AG, also of Austria. voestalpine produces and
distributes carbon steel products. Böhler-Uddeholm produces and
distributes specialty steel products. The operation was examined under the
simplified merger review procedure.
