[01] Commission clears acquisition of Parques Reunidos by Candover
The European Commission has granted clearance under the EU Merger
Regulation to the acquisition of sole control of Parques Reunidos S.A. of
Spain by Candover Partners Limited (Candover) of the UK, via a newly
incorporated company Desarrollos Empresariales Biarritz S.L. (Desarrollos)
of Spain. Candover is a private investment firm. Parques Reunidos manages
leisure parks. The operation was examined under the simplified merger
review procedure.
[02] Commission clears acquisition of EDAL by Balfour Beatty and Galaxy
The European Commission has granted clearance under the EU Merger
Regulation to the acquisition of joint control of Exeter and Devon Airport
Limited (EDAL) of the UK by Balfour Beatty plc of the UK and Galaxy S.Ã r.L
(Galaxy) of Luxembourg. Balfour Beatty is a building, engineering and asset
investment company. Galaxy is a transport and infrastructure equity fund.
EDAL owns and operates Exeter International Airport. The operation was
examined under the simplified merger review procedure.
[03] EU-ASEAN : increasing engagement with South East Asia
EU Ministers will meet their ASEAN counterparts tomorrow in Nuremberg to
endorse a Vision Statement on an Enhanced EU-ASEAN Partnership, laying the
basis for closer political relations and cooperation in future. At the
meeting the EU will express its commitment to support South East Asian in
developing its own forms of regional integration. This bi-annual EU-ASEAN
Ministerial Meeting will be attended by representatives from all EU Member
states as well as the 10Â ASEAN countries: Brunei, Burma/Myanmar, Cambodia,
Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and
Vietnam.
[04] Commission publishes indicative figures on the distribution of direct
farm aid in 2005
The European Commission has made public indicative figures on the
distribution of direct farm payments by size-class of aid received for the
Financial Year 2005. The figures have been derived from the EAGGF (European
Agricultural Guarantee and Guidance Fund) payment data received from the
Member States. For the first time, new Member States are also included and
the figures also reflect the situation after the CAP reforms of 2003 and
2004, which entered into force from 2005 onwards. These figures must also
be regarded as purely indicative. Figures for 2002, 2003 and 2004 were made
public earlier. The Commission will continue to publish such aggregated
figures on a regular basis in the future. The figures are available on the
