[01] Bluetongue in the Netherlands confirmed
The European Commission has been informed of a confirmed outbreak of
Bluetongue in sheep in the southern part of the Netherlands. Further
investigations and laboratory testing are currently being performed at the
Community Reference Laboratory in Pirbright (UK), to identify the strain
involved.
[02] Commission clears acquisition of Strategic Minerals by Evraz
The European Commission has granted clearance under the EU Merger
Regulation to the acquisition of joint control of Strategic Minerals
Corporation (‘Strategic Minerals’, USA) by Evraz Group S.A.
(‘Evraz’, Luxembourg) and Sojitz Corporation (‘Sojitz’, Japan).
Evraz is a company which deals with steel production and mining operations.
Sojitz has diversified trading activities and exclusive distribution of
vanadium products. Strategic Minerals is active in the mining and
processing of vanadium and vanadium products. The operation was examined
under the simplified merger review procedure.
[03] La Commission autorise l’acquisition de Emap France par Mondadori
La Commission européenne a autorisé, en vertu du règlement
Concentrations, le projet d'acquisition de l’entreprise Emap
International Magazines SAS («Emap France», France) par Arnoldo Mondadori
Editore S.p.A («Mondadori», Italie). Mondadori est une filiale du groupe
multimédia Fininvest, elle est essentiellement active dans le domaine de
la publication et de la distribution de livres et de magazines. Emap France
est essentiellement active dans le secteur de la publication et de la
distribution de magazines en langue française. Il ressort de l'enquête
menée par la Commission que l'opération envisagée n'entravera pas de
manière significative la concurrence dans le marché commun. Cette affaire
a été traitée selon la procédure simplifiée.
[04] Commission clears acquisition of Energ.it by Atel Energia/Azienda
Energetica - Etschwerke
The European Commission has granted clearance under the EU Merger
Regulation to the acquisition of joint control of Energ.IT (‘Energ.IT’,
Italy) by Atel Energia S.r.l. (‘Atel’, Switzerland) and Azienda
Energetica S.p.A. — Etschwerke AG (‘AE-EW’, Italy). Atel deals with
electricity generation, wholesale supply and provision of some minor
ancillary/balancing services and other energy services. AE-EW has business
activities in electricity generation, distribution, transmission, wholesale
and retail supply and provision of some minor ancillary/balancing services
and other energy services. Energ.IT is active in the sector of electricity
generation, wholesale and retail supply. The operation was examined under
the simplified merger review procedure.
[05] Commission clears acquisition of Figdor Baustoffhandel by Mibau
Holding
The European Commission has granted clearance under the EU Merger
Regulation to the acquisition of joint control of Figdor Baustoffhandel
GmbH by Mibau Holding GmbH and Foster Yeoman Baumineralien GmbH. Figdor
Baustoffhandel GmbH is active in the distribution of mineral building
materials in the area of Wilhelmshaven. The operation was examined under
the simplified merger review procedure.
