[01] Commission clears acquisition of JVC by Bilfinger Berger and WIB
The European Commission has granted clearance under the EU Merger
Regulation to the acquisition of joint control of JVC of Germany by
Bilfinger Berger AG and Westdeutsche Immobilienbank (WIB), both of Germany.
Bilfinger Berger is active in the construction business both in Germany and
internationally, focussing on the planning and realisation of all types of
construction projects. WIB is a subsidiary of Westdeutsche Landesbank and
has activities mainly in real estate financing and development, management
of property portfolios and conception, sales and marketing of closed
property funds. The proposed concentration will bring together Bilfinger
Berger and WIB's activities in real estate management services in the joint
venture JVC. The operation was examined under the simplified merger review
procedure.
[02] La Commission lance une consultation publique sur la protection des
sols dans l'UE
La Commission européenne a lancé aujourd'hui une consultation de huit
semaines par l'internet sur les mesures que l'Union européenne pourrait
adopter pour lutter contre la dégradation des sols. Un sol de bonne
qualité est essentiel pour la conservation de la biodiversité et des
ressources naturelles. Des données scientifiques indiquent toutefois que
les sols se dégradent dans l'ensemble de l'Europe et l'UE doit par
conséquent agir pour protéger cette ressource précieuse. Des problèmes
tels que l'érosion, les glissements de terrain et la contamination des
sols seront abordés.
[03] Commission consults public on action to improve the urban environment
in Europe
The European Commission is inviting the public and relevant authorities to
give their views via the Internet on a new European strategy to improve the
urban environment in Europe and also reduce the impact that cities have on
the wider environment. The strategy is due to be proposed by the Commission
in December 2005. The consultation will run until 21 September 2005.
[04] Commission appoints Heads of Representation in seven new Member States
The European Commission has today launched the procedure in view of the
appointment of seven new Heads of Representation. A letter offering the
position of Head of Representation has been sent to the candidates
selected.
