[02] Commission clears take-over of Hillsdown (UK) by Hicks, Muse (USA)

The European Commission has approved the acquisition of British company Hillsdown Holding plc by Hicks, Muse, Tate & Furst Investment Partners C.V. (Hicks, Muse), a Dutch limited company within the group of investment funds controlled by Mr Thomas O. Hicks in the United States. The only markets where the companies have a potential overlap are those for canned food products. However given the companies' different lines of products and their limited market shares, the operation does not raise competition concerns.
