[01] Ritt Bjerregaard meets with Environment Ministers from Central and
Eastern Europe
The Environment ministers from the 10 associated countries in Central and
Eastern Europe (CEEC's) meet with Ritt Bjerregaard, European Commissioner
responsible for Environment, and Mr. Lahure, President of the Environment
Council, for informal talks on the pre-accession strategy in Brussels
today. At the meeting Mrs. Bjerregaard will present a new Commission
guidebook on how to transpose and implement EU environmental legislation in
the CEECs. The guide, which is the first of its kind, is a follow-up to the
Commission's White Paper on the Internal Market from 1995 and presents a
step-by step road map to the implementation of the whole of the
environmental acquis. Mrs. Bjerregaard will also present a short progress
report on environmental approximation in the CEECs. In the afternoon the
discussions will deal with the issue of CO2 and climate change aiming at a
coordinated position before the Kyoto summit in December.

"Partenariat 97", Copenhague 11 et 12 septembre 1997
"L'internationalisation des petites et moyennes entreprises: vers l'an
2000" constituera le sujet de la conférence "Partenariat 97" qui se tiendra
les 11 et 12 septembre 1997 à Copenhague. L'objectif de cette conférence
est de réfléchir sur les actions entreprises à ce jour afin de soutenir les
PME et d'examiner les questions de l'internationalisation et de la
compétitivité.
