[01] Commission welcomes lifting of import deposit by Czech Republic
The European Commission welcomes the decision taken by the Czech Government
to lift the deposit obligation imposed on a range of imports into the Czech
Republic. The Commission considered it to be in contravention to the
Europe Agreement. Following the decision by the Czech Government, the
process of arbitration, foreseen by Article 107 of the Europe Agreement
between the European Union and the Czech Republic and which would have been
activated if the import Deposit scheme had remained in force after mid-
September, will no longer be necessary.
