[01] Commission clears joint venture of Siemens and Sommer Allibert for car
cockpits
The European Commission has given the green light to the formation of a joint
venture between Siemens AG and Sommer Allibert Industrie AG, a subsidiary of
French Sommer Allibert S.A., for the development, production, installation and
sales of integrated cockpits for cars. The concentration is not likely to lead to the
creation or strengthening of a dominant market position.
[02] Commission approves the acquisition of CompuNet by General Electric
The European Commission has approved an operation by which GE Capital
Technology Services GmbH and GE Capital Computer Services GmbH, wholly-owned subsidiaries of the General Electric Capital Corporation (GE) intend to
acquire sole control of the German company CompuNet Computer AG
(CompuNet) by way of purchase of its entire issued share capital. CompuNet
carries out its business exclusively in Germany where it reaches small market
shares. Since GE does not operate in the information technology market in the
European Union, and CompuNet operates only in Germany where, no
geographical overlap exists.
[03] Commission approves the acquisition of 62% of Arus Distribution
Industrielle SA by Klöckner Stahl- und Metallhandel GmbH
The European Commission has approved an operation by which the German
undertaking Klöckner Stahl- und Metallhandel GmbH (KSM), part of the
diversified VIAG group, will acquire 62% of ARUS Distribution Industrielle SA
(ARUS). The operation will not lead to the creation or strengthening of a
dominant position. This approval under the Merger Regulation concerns only
those products not covered by the European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC)
Treaty. Essentially these are tubes, cut and bent reinforcing bars, hollow
sections, supplies to the manufacturing and construction industries and
aluminium. The ECSC aspects of the proposed operation will be dealt with in a
separate decision under Article 66 of the ECSC Treaty.
l'investissement total à presque 1,4 milliard d'Ecus. Ce programme fait partie de
l'Initiative Communautaire PME et se déroulera jusqu'à fin 1999.
