[A] NEWS ITEMS[01] Ecevit departs, sees bright future for ``TRNC''According to illegal Bayrak radio (10:30 hours, 29.4.99) Turkish Prime Minister Bulent Ecevit has said that he sees a bright future for the pseudostate. Ecevit who has been resting in the occupied area since Saturday left the island yesterday.In the morning, he held a 30-minute meeting with Rauf Denktash. The two made a short statement to the press after the meeting and before they left for the airport. Ecevit thanked everybody for the interest they showed during his stay. He claimed that his visit disturbed the Greek Cypriots, adding that the time has come to accept the existence of the ``TRNC''. He also said that he sees a bright future for the ``TRNC''. Denktash affirmed that everybody was very happy and proud that Prime Minister Ecevit chose the ``TRNC'' for a place to work and rest. Denktash said: ``We kept our promise and we did not disturb you. We are making you an open offer. Whenever you want to rest, you may come here. We will wait for you.'' Denktash said that with Ecevit´s arrival, the Turkish Cypriots began to smile and relax. He wished Ecevit success in his efforts to establish a government. [02] Italian delegation meets DenktashKIBRIS (30.4.99) reports that the Italian delegation headed by Italian deputy Foreign Minister Umberto Ranieri has started contacts in the occupied area.The visiting delegation, accompanied by Italy´s Ambassador to Cyprus Francesco Bascone, yesterday met with Turkish Cypriot leader Rauf Denktash. There was no statement after the meeting. The delegation in the afternoon met with officials from the Communal Liberation Party (CLP) and the Republican Turkish Party (RTP).
