[01] Cyprus government denounces bomb attack at UN in Baghdad
The Cyprus government, through its Foreign Minister, George Iacovou,
condemned the bomb attack, which devastated the United Nations headquarters
in Baghdad on Tuesday, killing at least 17 people and wounding more than
100 people. Among the dead was Sergio Vieira de Mello, the United Nations/
Chief Coordinator for Iraq. In a statement to the Cyprus News Agency Mr
Iacovou said such actions are totally unacceptable and deplorable,
especially when they are targeted against the UN.
The Foreign Minister expressed the Cyprus Government and people/s support
to the victims and their families.
