Today the parties began expressing their views after the supplementary briefing by the President of the Republic. The discussion will continue and it will most probably be completed at the next meeting of the National Council on 17 June 2002."

Answering a question regarding statements by Mr Denktash demonstrating flexibility concerning the security issue, Mr Papapetrou stated that he could only state that difficulties were perceived in this chapter as well.

The Spokesman also stated that in relation to whether a document was submitted by Mr de Soto concerning the security issue, he could not verify or deny anything in order to avoid the drawing of false conclusions.
