[01] House President receives award form Patriarch Alexios II
The Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Alexios II awarded the President of
the Cyprus House of Representatives Mr Spyros Kyprianou the prize of the
Institution for the Unity of Christian Orthodox Nations, during a special
ceremony in Moscow yesterday.
In his address, Patriarch Alexios II referred to the close relations
between Russia and Cyprus and in particular to Mr Kyprianou's political
achievements and contribution towards the unity of the Orthodox people.
Replying, the House President thanked the Patriarch and the Institution for
this great honour and referred to the common heritage shared between Russia
and Cyprus through the faith and traditions of the Orthodox religion.
[02] Presentation of credentials
Cyprus Ambassador to Rome Mr Alexandros Zenon presented his credentials,
during an official ceremony yesterday, to the Heads of State of San Marino
Captains Regent Gian Franco Terenzi II and Enzo Colombini II, as the
island' s new ambassador to San Marino based in Rome.
Presenting Mr Zenon to the Heads of State, the Secretary of State for
Foreign and Political Affairs, Mr Gabriele Gatti, referred to the excellent
relations between the two countries in all fields and especially to the
support San Marino has always offered, through international organizations,
to the Cyprus cause on the basis of international law and human rights.
Mr Gatti assured Ambassador Zenon that San Marino will continue to give its
political support to Cyprus on the basis of these principles until the
final solution of the Cyprus problem.
