[01] Cyprus and Belize establish diplomatic relations
Cyprus and Belize have signed a protocol establishing diplomatic relations.
The protocol was signed on 21 July 2000 by the Permanent Representative of
Cyprus to the UN Ambassador Sotos Zackheos on behalf of Cyprus, and by
Belize's Permanent Representative to the UN Ambassador Stewart Warren
Leslie, on behalf of Belize.
Mr. Zackheos thanked Ambassador Leslie for Belize's steady support for
Cyprus and described the signing of the protocol as evidence of the desire
of the two countries for further cooperation both internationally and
bilaterally.
On his behalf Ambassador Leslie referred to Cyprus' achievements in the
fields of tourism, shipping and services and expressed the hope that
through this cooperation, his country will benefit from Cyprus' experience.
