[01] The President of the Republic to undergo operation
The President of the Republic, Mr Glafcos Clerides, will undergo an
operation for the removal of a polyp on the large intestine on Friday 5
May.
It is expected that the President will be in a position to resume his
duties fully within a fortnight.
The President's scheduled meetings with the UN Secretary-General's Special
Adviser on Cyprus, Mr Alvaro de Soto, the US Presidential Emissary for
Cyprus, Mr Alfred Moses, and the UK's Special Representative for Cyprus,
Sir David Hannay, will be postponed.
