[01] House frees interest rates
The House of Representatives yesterday approved legislation lifting a
maximum nine per cent ceiling on interest rates.
The new law will come into effect as from 1 January 2001 and provides for
the liberalisation of interest rates.
The House also approved new regulations concerning the taxation of profits
from investments in the Cyprus Stock Exchange.
