[01] Bulgarian Parliamentarians visit Cyprus

Speaking to the press afterwards , Mr Sokolov stated that he had an interesting and pleasant meeting with President Clerides with whom they exchanged views on the efforts of the two countries for full accession to the European Union.

Mr Sokolov stressed the willingness of both countries to further enhance the traditionally close, friendly and cordial relations that exist between them.

He said he conveyed to President Clerides the best wishes of his President and that Mr Clerides said he was looking forward to meeting his Bulgarian counterpart.

[02] Genscher: Cyprus is well prepared for EU membership

In a brief statement to the press after the meeting, Mr Genscher said that with President Clerides they exchanged views on Cyprus' course of accession to EU and the present phase of the Cyprus problem.

Mr Genscher expressed the hope that a peaceful solution will be possible and that Cyprus will become a member of the EU as soon as possible because "Cyprus is well-prepared for full membership".
