[01] President Clerides hails efforts to turn Cyprus into a regional
services centre
"The Government is promoting and staunchly supporting the efforts to turn
Cyprus into a regional services centre", President Clerides stated
yesterday at the opening of the 4th Cyprus Services exhibition "CyServ 98"
in Nicosia.
Noting the high percentage (73 per cent) of the services sector in the
country's Gross National Product, President Clerides stressed that Cyprus
aims at achieving even better results that will have positive effect on all
sectors of its economy.
The exhibition "offers the opportunity for strengthening ties with the
European Union neighbouring countries of the Middle East , other European
countries and the Balkan states", he added.
It is worth noting that some 30 services companies from Greece, Israel,
Egypt, Malta, Jordan and Lebanon are participating in this year's
exhibition.
