Speaking after the meeting, the Head of the Committee Wolfgang Tiefensee noted that Germany fully comprehends the people of Cyprus' will to support the country to stay in the Eurozone.

He said that issues related to the transparency of the tax system and the corporate tax in Cyprus could be on the agenda of the Troika consultations, adding that the Bundestag delegation finds itself in Cyrus at a very crucial moment, amidst the negotiations with the international lenders for the loan agreement.

[02] Inflation down to 1.6% in February

In February 2012 inflation stood at 3.1% compared to February 2011.

For the period between January and February 2013 the Consumer Price Index and therefore inflation was up by 1.7% compared to the first two months of 2012.

[03] Cypriots more likely to make use of European Citizens` Initiative

The results of the Eurobarometer were presented Thursday at the EU House in Nicosia. According to the results, Cypriots are the first among the EU 27 who would like to know more about their rights as EU citizens.

In November, when the survey was conducted, Cypriots felt less Europeans than six months ago during the previous Eurobarometer, despite the fact that the survey took place during the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the EU.
