  • [01] Cameron, Samaras and Van Rompuy congratulate Anastasiades

    British Prime Minister David Cameron has congratulated Nicos Anastasiades on his election to the post of President of the Republic. Cameron telephoned Anastasiades to congratulate him Sunday evening after a press conference the newly elected President gave for the local and foreign media.

    According to CNA sources, Greek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras was the first foreign leader who telephoned President Anastasiades to congratulate him on his election victory.

    President of the European Council Herman Van Rompuy also congratulated Anastasiades on his election.

    Furthermore, British Foreign Secretary William Hague has congratulated Nicos Anastasiades on his election to the post of the President of the Republic, saying he looks forward to working with the new President of the Republic of Cyprus and strengthening bilateral ties.
