[01] Omani Foreign Minister on official visit to CyprusThe Minister responsible for Foreign Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman, Yusuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah, will carry out on Thursday a one-day official visit to Cyprus at the invitation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Erato Kozakou-Marcoullis.According to an official announcement, bin Alawi's visit, which constitutes the first visit of an Omani Foreign Minister to Cyprus, takes place in the context of the deepening bilateral relations between Cyprus and Oman. In the framework of his visit, the Omani Foreign Minister will hold tête-à-tête and extensive talks with his Cypriot counterpart, and their agenda will include bilateral relations, the Cyprus problem, current developments in the Middle East and issues of global interest. [02] CMP grateful to Turkey for continued supportThe Committee on Missing Persons has expressed its sincere gratitude to the government of Turkey for its commitment and continued support following its donation of USD 100,000.A press release issued by the Committee said "this eighth donation brings the Turkish financial assistance to the CMP to a total of USD 637,000 over the past six years. This donation to the CMP Project on the Exhumation, Identification and Return of Remains of Missing Persons in Cyprus will contribute to the Committee's goal of identifying and returning as many remains of missing individuals as possible in order to bring an end to the uncertainty which has affected so many families for so many years." As noted, to date, human remains representing over 900 individuals have been exhumed while over 340 missing persons have been identified and returned to the families for a proper burial. The CMP relies on donor support to continue to carry out its mandate. [03] Irish EU Presidency to focus on stability, jobs and growthStability, jobs and growth will be the focus of the Irish EU Presidency, Prime Minister of Ireland Enda Kenny said on Wednesday before the European Parliament Plenary.Presenting the priorities of the Irish EU Presidency, he said that "the deepest hurt is that of unemployment", adding that "we will prioritise the Youth Employment Package including the Youth Guarantee". "Completing the Single Market, removing barriers to business, increasing trading opportunities and improving competitiveness are all critical in improving the environment for jobs", he pointed out.
