  • [01] Fifty one illegal immigrants return home

Cyprus Police are escorting 51 illegal immigrants, who were held at a shelter, back to their home country Bangladesh.

A total of 115 policemen, a doctor and a nurse are escorting the immigrants.

The operation is taking place following an EU Program. The cost is paid by the EU solidarity fund (95%) and national funds (5%).

Police Spokesman Andreas Aggelides told CNA that the Police have followed all the procedures. He said that the immigrants have given their written consensus and the decision was made based on special criteria such as the fact that all of them are from the same country and they had no money to return back.
