  • [01] Europarl's SEDE Subcommittee to visit Cyprus

    Á delegation of the European Parliament`s Security and Defence Subcommittee (SEDE) is in Cyprus until October 13 for a working visit in the framework of the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

    During their stay the SEDE delegation members, headed by its Chairman Arnaud Danjean, will be received by Cyprus House of Representatives President Yiannakis Omirou and will attend a working dinner hosted by the President and the members of the Cypriot Parliament`s Defence Committee.

    [02] Interparliamentary meeting in Brussels addresses data protection legislation reform

    Reforming the EU's personal data protection legislative framework will contribute in boosting the competitiveness of European enterprises and stimulate the digital economy, President of the Committee on Legal Affairs Ionas Nicolaou said, while addressing an interparliamentary meeting on Data Protection, in Brussels.

    The meeting, organized by the European Parliament's Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE), was concluded on Wednesday.

    According to an official announcement, Nicolaou, representing the Cyprus House of Representatives, took the floor during the first day of the meeting and explained the reasons a reform of the existing legislation on data protection was necessary.
