[01] Cyprus President conveys message of unityPresident of the Republic Demetris Christofias has conveyed a message of love, cooperation and unity.Speaking after Easter Mass service, President Christofias said "I would like to extend a message of love, friendship, cooperation and unity", adding that even if Jesus was resurrected, "Cyprus and its people are still carrying the cross to Golgotha", an official statement said. "I therefore extend a message of hope and I am sure that this unacceptable condition, which is being maintained by expansionist Turkey, finds supporters on the international arena including great forces, will not continue forever", he added. We are working very hard, despite the fact that we are dealing with Turkey's intransigence, and "I am sure and optimistic that the time will come for our liberation". UN-led talks are currently underway between the leaders of the two communities in Cyprus with an aim to reunify the island, divided since the Turkish invasion of 1974 which resulted with the occupation of the island's northern third. [02] Israeli FM in Cyprus on an official visitIsraeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Liberman has arrived in Cyprus on Monday for an official three-day visit.On Tuesday, Liberman will have a tete-a-tete meeting with Foreign Affairs Erato Kozakou – Marêoullis, followed by official talks of the two delegations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nicosia. Israeli FM will then be received by the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Demetris Christofias, at the Presidential Palace and visit the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism to meet with Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism Neoklis Sylikiotis. During his visit to Cyprus, the Israeli FM will also meet the leaders of the two major parties of the island, main opposition Democratic Rally President Nicos Anastasiades and ruling AKEL Secretary General Antros Kyprianou. [03] TISPOL campaign starts in CyprusPolice have announced that a week-long speed enforcement operation, co-ordinated by TISPOL and supported across Europe, begins today.The operation will be held throughout the free areas of the Republic and aims at preventing road accidents and involves both static speed detection and vehicles controlled by police officers. The campaign is being held in cooperation with The European Traffic Police Network (TISPOL) and will end at 22 April. According to a Police announcement, excessive speeding is among the four road killers and is the number one cause of road accidents in young people from 18-25.
