[01] CYPRUS ISSUE - TALKSPresident of the Republic Demetris Christofias and Turkish Cypriot leader Dervis Eroglu continued the discussion on governance and power sharing in the framework of direct talks for a Cyprus solution, following a brief summer break.Tuesdays meeting was the fourth of a series of all day meetings to take place over the next several weeks until October, as agreed during a meeting between the leaders of the two communities and the UN Secretary General in Geneva on July 7th, 2011. The UN Secretary General`s Special Representative in Cyprus Liza Buttenheim told reporters that leaders` representatives will continue the discussion on governance and power sharing on Wednesday at 15.00. Furthermore, she said that the leaders will meet again on Friday in accordance with their agreed schedule, to discus the remaining chapters. She also announced that President Christofias and Dervis Eroglu have agreed to hold a make up meeting for the postponed meeting on August 5 and this meeting is to take place on 14th of September. [02] FM - ISRAEL VISITThe Minister of Foreign Affairs Erato Kozakou-Marcoullis will travel to Israel Wednesday for contacts.According to an official announcement, Marcoullis will be received by the Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu and the President of the country, Shimon Peres. During her visit, Erato Kozakou-Marcoullis will hold talks with her Israeli counterpart Avigdor Liberman, during which bilateral as well as regional and international issues of common concern will be discussed. Particular emphasis will be placed on co-operation between Cyprus and Israel in energy issues, and the recent developments in the wider region. The two Ministers will also discuss the Middle East Peace Process. Furthermore, Marcoullis will brief the Israeli Minister of Foreign Affairs on the latest developments regarding the Cyprus problem. [03] APOEL - CHAMPIONS LEAGUECypriot APOEL FC beat Poland`s Wisla Krakow with 3-1 in GSP Stadium on Tuesday, achieving a historic qualification to UEFA Champions League group stage, the second in three years.APOEL, that hosted Wisla for the Champions League play-off second leg match trailing by 1-0, opened the score with an own goal credited to Wisla`s goalkeeper Sergei Pareiko, while the Cypriot team`s striker Ailton Almeida`s goal in the second half shaped the 2-0 lead for APOEL, giving Ivan Jovanovic`s side a spot in the group stage. However, Wisla`s Cezary Wilk scored in the 71st minute putting the visitors ahead on away goals, but Almeida scored its second goal at the 87th minute, shaping the final 3-1 win for APOEL, which secured a spot to the Champions League group stage draw to be held on Thursday August 25. Meanwhile, two additional Cypriot teams, Nicosia`s Omonia AC and Larnaca`s AEK FC will claim on Wednesday a spot in the UEFA`s Europa League group stage. Omonia traveled to Austria to face Salzburg FC after the first leg`s 2-1 win and AEK hosts Norway`s Rosenborg in Antonis Papadopoulos after a goalless draw in Trotheim last week.
